Mauvic is a newly formed Fijian based company. The company has been set up to assist with the funding and management for various projects that will involve the indigenous people from the Mataqali of Drekeniwai and the Namosi Province People. Mauvic intends to increase its capability with various enterprises throughout Fiji, Australia and the Pacific. The Management Team are committed to the production and commercialization of various commodities in Fiji and Australia, industries such as mining, farming and exports will allow Mauvic to experience rapid growth which will lead to local employment opportunities and much needed funding for the local community.
In 2015, Alex Djorgonoski and Troy Hellingman met with the leaders of the Drekeniwai Tribe of the Mataqali, the objective was to discuss possibilities of investment into the Mau Quarry, this would include a newly established company set up to produce and deliver of crushed rock from the Mau Quarry.
In August 2016, Mauvic was officially formed and granted approval to lease the land at the Mau Quarry. This significant partnership between Mauvic and the people of the Drekeniwai Tribe will assist in the long-term employment opportunities for the local people as well as contributing to further development such as farming, tourism and hospitality.
Established in 2016, MAUVIC Pte Limited leverages a Class 1 – Special Quarry Lease from the iTaukei Land Trust, covering an area of 10.24 hectares. The lease commenced on January 26, 2017, with a 25-year term and an option to extend for another 25 years. The quarry’s strategic location next to a waterway enables efficient transportation of rock via barge, reducing environmental impact and transportation costs.
Mauvic will commence the extraction of “Andesite Rock” in in October 2016, Mauvic has been granted a 30-year lease with further lease options on the land where he Andesite Rock is located. The primary problem addressed by MAUVIC is the environmental damage caused by the extensive use of river rock in construction projects in Fiji. Currently, over 70% of rock used in construction is river rock, which has significant negative environmental impacts. Countries like Australia and New Zealand restrict river rock usage to approximately 1% for similar projects. Additionally, the existing transportation methods for rock are costly and environmentally harmful, involving heavy truck usage that damages roads and increases pollutants.

The Small Holder Farm Project, this would be established to support those people not directly fortunate to work in our major projects, this would enable local farmers to become self-sustainable in all areas of their lives, our team will consult in farming experts and business consultants who would be available at any time to assist and support the local farmers. Scholarships to further education primary, secondary and university level in both Fiji and Internationally, scholarships for both academic and sporting will be offered. Mentoring programs which will entail International Student Exchange Programs to help create the Fijian Leaders of tomorrow, rewarding students during their school years to allow them to grow. This program would far better recognition than the existing year 12 school report system and certainly lead to scholarships across many subjects. To improve the Mount Fort Boys Home located close to the project area, the initial injection of funding would bring it up to a world standard allowing it to become totally selfsufficient.

Improving transport in areas that have limited availability due to the isolation on where they are situated, this will create opportunities for the tribe members and locals to improve business dealings, access mentoring, education and engage with community groups more frequently. Improve the Sport and Recreation facilities for all ages that will also create employment opportunities and improve unity among the community. Improve the current water supply to maintain clean water, create dams that will improve cash crops as well as commercial fishing and aquaculture.
The Housing Program would be established to improve existing dwellings, as well as creating affordable housing in the form of kit homes, these kit homes will be set up in some 10 villages and will support widows and single parents. Priority would be given to those with young children and in remote locations. Storage facilities would be set up for easy access to building equipment, machinery and tools. The Housing Program will include the availability of qualified tradesman to support and train others. Some initial funding will be required to repair 6 houses on a 132-acre site as well as the development of an admin building to manage the project and house expatriates.
The Piggery Program aims to set up and research the evolving of a successful wet tropics Piggery operation capable of marketing its product within Fiji, and to the wider Pacific and Asian market. The aim is to build the breeder herd from an initial select 350 sows and gilts to 1,000 breed sows generating 17,000 Weaners a year for sale. Gilts are young female pigs that have never been impregnated.
The setting up through Namosi Waters of the Fiji Sustainability Program to provide grants, loans and micro-credit supporting village small holding farms in setting up small-scale pig and aquaculture farming and associated feed cropping, as well as Bamboo Forestry and Kenaf Plantations.
